The British Institute of NDT links up with the National Skills Academy for Nuclear
During
an award ceremony at Argyll-Ruane Ltd’s premises in Rotherham, The
British Institute of NDT (BINDT) and The National Skills Academy for
Nuclear decided that it was in the public interest if both were members
of each other’s organisations. The National Skills Academy for Nuclear
is keen to understand how prepared we will be in terms of the provision
of NDT services when generators start to build nuclear power stations.
Equally, BINDT is keen to be at the forefront of the development of
education and vocational NDT programmes to ensure that an adequate
resource is provided.
National Skills Academy for Nuclear’s
vision is: “To create, develop and promote world-class skills and career
pathways to ensure a sustainable future for the UK nuclear industry.”
The National Skills Academy for Nuclear is an employer-led organisation
established to ensure that the UK nuclear industry and its supply chain
has the skilled, competent and safe workforce it needs to deal with the
current and future UK nuclear programme, including all sub-sectors:
defence, decommissioning, operations, uranium supply, enrichment and
manufacture, waste management and disposal and new nuclear build.
Employer
Nominated Providers are training providers who deliver courses required
by industry at a sufficiently high level that they are recommended by
nuclear employer members to become part of the Skills Academy’s provider
network. Both Lavender International and Argyll-Ruane Ltd have
successfully applied and have been granted Employer Nominated Provider
status.
BINDT is proud to be associated with the National Skills
Academy for Nuclear and is determined to play its part in developing the
future needs of the nuclear industry, both for new build and in-service
requirements. Having been involved in the development of the NDT
Foundation Degree and the BSc Honours Degree, BINDT is committed to
helping The University of Northampton and ECITB in the further
development of exciting educational and vocational opportunities.
